Man who made technology beautiful  and interesting..........

Steve Jobs 1955-2011

Apple’s Board of Directors has released a statement that the company’s co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs has passed away. He was 56.
“Steve’s brilliance, passion, and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives,” the official statement said. “The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.”
Jobs, the man behind innovations in computer and mobile technology, had a long-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. He recently stepped down as CEO of Apple, recommending the company COO Tim Cook to take his place. Cook delivered his first keynote address as CEO yesterday as he unveiled the new iPhone 4S.
In an e-mail to Apple employees, Cook wrote: “Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.”
“We will honor his memory by dedicating ourselves to continuing the work he loved so much,” Cook ended.

BSNL, has launched its own Application Store for its mobile subscribers(both 2G and 3G), across India. Dubbed as the BSNL Apps Store, it can be accessed through a link on the BSNL Live WAP Portal.

The Apps Store has been developed and is managed by Accenture and features upto 100,000 apps , across categories such as include Social Networking, Games (multi-player, 3D, action, sports, racing, and puzzles), entertainment, utilities, music, cricket, sports, finance, books, education, religion, business, productivity, lifestyle, Bollywood, health and fitness, navigation, weather, news, Photography, travel, and others.
The apps can be downloaded free, or for a one time charge or on monthly, weekly or daly subscription basis. The Apps Store will keep a record of previously downloaded or subscribed apps, allowing users to re-download apps that they’ve previously bought. As with most telco App Stores, billing would be integrated with the operator, and app purchases would not require a credit card. Data transfer charges will be as per the user’s data plan, in addition to the cost of the app. The release further mentions that 80% of the apps are paid, while the remaining 20% are free apps.
BSNL has also declared September as a free apps month, during which, it will offer the top-20 popular apps, free of charge.
BSNL is a late entrant in the Apps Store game, it is the fourth largest telco in terms of subscribers with more than 95 million subscribers, and has reach in smaller cities and towns. However, the apps might be priced lower compared to other telco Apps Stores, since BSNL would targets subscribers in tier 2 and 3 cities.

Best Free Software And Utilities for Design & Multimedia

In some of the previous posts I have given you the information of some of the free and useful Software and utilities and the last one was security related utilities, now I will provide you the information of some Design and Multimedia related Software which can be very useful to you in various applications.
The list of some selected utilities as follows -:

Spotify-:

Pick a song; any song. Type its name in a search box, click a button, and it starts playing. Okay, we could do this five years ago. But now, click the album name, and listen to the whole album, top to bottom, in sequence. Instantly. Meet Spotify ($10/month, $5/month, or free, depending on level of service).

Spotify also has a radio mode where you dial in a decade (or three), and pick your favorite genres, and Spotify does the rest. As far as personalized radio goes, it’s just okay; Pandora has nothing to worry about. Spotify's catalog is vast indeed, but it lacks Pandora's ability to “thumbs-down” a song to make the system learn about what you like.
Another key difference between Spotify and the other services is that to use Spotify, you have to download a client. It’s nice to be able to use my keyboard’s multimedia keys to pause and play online radio--something that can’t really be done with Web-based services. On the other hand, the client feels like it’s trying too hard to be iTunes, and although vendor Spotify Ltd states that it developed Mac and PC versions at the same time, it feels far from native on my Windows 7 system.
You can also use the Spotify client to play your local music collection, and purchase music you like for offline listening The Local Files section is quite minimalistic--just a long list of tracks with album art and live (as-you-type) search. If you have a Facebook account, you can use the client to network with your friends, check out what they’re listening to, and share recommendations.
In terms of performance, Spotify’s playback was silky-smooth on my modest (5MBps) connection, with no noticeable buffering, stuttering, or any other glitches. All in all, Spotify is fantastic at what it does. It’s like having an unlimited music library in the cloud; highly recommended.

How to Download and Install Windows 8 Into a Virtual Machine

Here's how to download and install the Windows 8 Developer Preview into a virtual machine on your PC.

If you do not have separate hard disc, that is a no problem now you can download and install virtual Box for free from internet  and can install Windows 8 preview in you computer.

Go download VirtualBox and install the default package. Once you're finished, you'll open right into a fresh copy of the application. This is where you'll begin creating your system inside your system.
To start, click on the giant New button in the upper-left corner of the app. Give your virtual machine a clever name and select Windows 7 as the operating system. Make sure that your choice of OS (32-bit or 64-bit) matches whichever version of Windows 8 you downloaded.

Click Next, and you'll be taken to a screen that asks how much memory you'd like to devote to the virtual operating system. The 32-bit version of Windows 8 requires 1 gigabyte at minimum, and the 64-bit version requires 2GB, but the more RAM you can give the virtual OS, the better it will run. Click Next once you've made your choice.
